Information / Meals and Nutrition

At Buxton Nursery we ensure that all meals, snacks and drinks are healthy, balanced and nutritious. Water and Fruit are available at all times.

Breakfast

Your child will be offered a choice of healthy cereals and bread including toast and crumpets. They will also be offered fresh fruit and a drink, including milk or water.

Lunch

We offer a range of hot meals that are freshly prepared daily in our school kitchen, There is a menu displayed on the school kitchen door which is located on the right as you enter the nursery door (ramp entrance). Meals are served in our main rooms, we have a team of lovely lunchtime supervisors who help us over the lunch period with serving food, supporting children and organising the rooms before and after lunch. Small groups of children who are due to transition to school have their lunch in the school hall alongside children at Buxton Infant School. This helps supports school readiness and aids transition regardless of the school children will be transferring to.

During the school holidays when the school kitchen is closed we are able to offer a 'nursery packed lunch', options include sandwiches, wraps, salads, homemade pizza's, beans on toast and more.

We also welcome healthy packed lunches from home.

Tea

We offer a freshly prepared tea. For example pasta and sauce, sandwiches and cheese and tomato tart.

All staff handling food hold the basic food hygiene certificate.

Please see our price list for details of costs of meals.

Packed lunches from home

Families are welcome to provide a packed lunch from home. Below is our healthy packed lunch guidance which should be followed to ensure children are offered a well balanced diet. If children have items in their packed lunch which are not permitted a polite note will be sent home to advise accordingly.
